Only a short distance from the capital Santo Domingo you will find Boca Chica, there you will experience a radical change of atmosphere. A picturesque fisherman's village will open to your eyes in front of one of the most beautiful and secure beaches you will find. Boca Chica is the most popular beach for the Dominicans, since it is so close to the capital city. The beach is about 2 km long, of extremely white sands. The blue green waters of the sea are protected by a natural coral reef that breaks the waves some five hundred meters away from the shore. To the western side of the beach, there is a commercial port, a sugarcane processing plant, and the Santo Domingo Yacht Club. There are lots of restaurants and hotels in the area. The restaurants specialize in a wide spectrum of options, seafood being the main ingredient. There is Creole Cooking, French Cuisine, Italian Pasta, as well as German specialties, offering the warmth of personalized service by the owners of the restaurants, who are mainly native of other latitudes that have made the region their second home.  |
