Documents required to get married in the DR
- Passports
- Original copies of birth certificates
- Single Status Affidavits.
If applicable Divorce or death certificate. In both cases, a minimum waiting period of ten months applies before a woman can remarry.
All documents (except passport) must be translated and legalized by the Dominican Republic Consulate. You will need two witnesses with valid passports that can be traveling with you or local hotel staff can witness your wedding.
Religious Weddings in the Dominican Republic
Although the main religion is Roman Catholic, it is possible to arrange a wedding for other religious denominations, like Jewish, Adventist, Protestant, etc. Documents required are:
- Passports.
- Original copies of birth certificates.
- Single Status Affidavits.
- If applicable Divorce or death certificate. In both cases, a minimum waiting period of ten months applies before a woman can remarry.
- Original certificate of baptism
- Certificate from the competent religious authority in your community, authorizing the wedding.
- If applicable, the Birth certificates of children procreated by the couple
