Santo Domingo City Tour
Discover the oldest city in the New World, founded by the conquistadors in 1496.

See many of the "firsts" of the New World, including the first palace, El Alcazar, home of Christopher Columbus' son Diego, and headquarters of the Spanish conquistadors for over 60 years.
Christopher Colombus' Alcazar

The first Cathedral in the new World, Museum of Las Casas Reales, the first city hall, the first monastery and walk way by the Ozama Fortress. Close by is the Atarazana, a lovely, Picturesque street, one of the first in the city, which now houses gift shops, boutiques and art galleries.
First Cathedral of America

Leaving the colonial city you will come upon the National Palace, the Cultural Plaza where you will find our National Theatre, the Gallery of Modern Art and the Museum of Dominican Man.

The tour continues through modern residential areas to the Olympic Center, our sports complex. Then on through the Mirador, a seven mile park with a panoramic view of the city and coastline.
Columbus' Lighthouse

Also during the tour we will pass by the Columbus Lighthouse, the giant monument where the remains of Christopher Columbus are resting.

When time permits we stop at Los tres Ojos, a natural fresh water spring, set like crystal jewels in an underground fern-covered cave. As another option we might also visit the national aquarium.

Return to the hotel at sunset.

This is a full day tour including lunch.
